概要: 睡眠は生活の質(QOL)における重要な因子であり,包括的な睡眠状況の把握とその改善に向けた対策が求められている.本研究では一般住民を対象とし,睡眠障害と生活習慣の関連について検討した.平成19~21年度岩木健康増進プロジェクトに参加した1, 273名を対象とした.自記式アンケートにて生活習慣の聞き取りを行い,ピッツバーグ睡眠質問票(PSQI)により睡眠障害を判定した.対象者を男女別に分類し,年代を若年群,中年群,高齢群に区分した.PSQIの得点を従属変数とし,BMI,喫煙習慣,飲酒習慣,抑うつの有無を独立変数とした重回帰分析を行った.その結果,男女とも,すべての年代において,睡眠障害とうつとの間に正の相関を示した.以上より,睡眠障害の予防と良好な睡眠習慣の獲得のためには精神的なサポートが重要であり,これによりQOLの改善が可能であることが示唆された. 続きを見る

概要: Objective: We investigated the relationship between trace element concentrations and neutrophil basalreactive oxygen spe cies( ROS) production capability among the Japanese general population.  Subjects and methods: Subjects of the current study were 606 participants( 225 males and 381 females) who had participated in the Iwaki Health Promotion Project 2005. Body mass index, biochemical blood examination, neutrophilbasal ROS production and serum concentrations of trace element (Copper(Cu), Zinc(Zn), Iron(Fe), Selenium(Se)) were measured. Each trace element was divided into 4 quartiles according to the concentration, and theneutrophil basal ROS production of each group was compared and analyzed. Moreover, the relationship between the concentration and neutrophil basal ROS production capability was assessed using a multiple linear regression analysis.  Results: For both males and females, a tendency to low neutrophil ROS production associated with higher Se serum concentration was observed. On the other hand, no significant correlation was observed between the Cu, Zn and Fe concentrations and neutrophil basal ROS production capability.  Conclusion: In conclusion, serum Se relieves oxidative stress through inhibiting neutrophil ROS production within a physiological range. On the other hand, our results suggested that neutrophil ROS production was unaffected by Cu, Zn and Fe concentrations within the normal physiological range. 続きを見る

概要: There are certain sex differences in the prevalence and severity of immunity-related diseases. Previousstudies have show n the influence of sex steroid hormones, such as estrogen and testosterone, on the immune system.The aim of this study was to investigate the association of sex steroid hormones with neutrophil function amongnormal healthy subjects in the general population. Subjects included 540 residents( 358 males and 182 females), whoparticipated in the Iwaki Health Promotion Project in 2014. We examined the association of estradiol and testosteronewith neutrophil ROS production and phagocytic activity. As a result, estradiol and testosterone negatively correlatedwith basal ROS production in males and luteal phase females (>15th day of menstrual cycle), although such trendwas not observed in follicular phase females( <14th day of menstrual cycle) and postmenopausal females. In contrast,the association of testosterone with stimulated ROS production and phagocytic activity was observed only in males.In conclusion, both estradiol and testosterone were found to have an influence on neutrophil function. Furthermore,the association of sex steroid hormones with neutrophil function was found to vary according to the phase of the menstrual cycle in addition to the sex difference. 続きを見る

概要:  社会生活活動は習慣化した行動であり,身体および認知機能を使う活動であるため認知機能に影響を及ぼしている可能性がある.そこで本研究は社会生活活動である対人交流と生活時間に着目し,認知機能との関連を検討した.2015年「岩木健康増進プロジェク ト」に参加した563名を対象に,認知機能をMMSE で測定し,重回帰分析とグラフィカルモデリングで因子間の関連と影響構造の分析を行った.男性の50歳~64歳でMMSE と「スポーツ」「テレビ・ラジオ・新聞・雑誌」「休養・くつろぎ」が正の相関,65歳以上では関連がなかった.女性の50歳~64歳で「育児」が正の相関,「食事」「睡眠」が負の相関,65歳以上では「月に1 回以上会う家族・親戚」が正の相関を示した.男性では中年期からスポーツや余暇活動を積極的に行い,認知予備力を高めていく事が重要であり,女性は対人交流の機会を増やし,それらを介して心理的安寧や身体的活動性を高めていく事が重要と考えられた. The social life activity is a habitual behavior, which involves physical and cognitive functions. Therefore,there is a possibility that the social life activity has an effect on cognitive functions. In this study, we focused onpersonal interaction and daily schedule as the social life activities, so as to examine the relationship between social life activity and cognitive function. The Subjects of this investigation were 563 adults who participated in the Iwaki Health Promotion Project 2015. Their cognitive functions were measured by MMSE, moreover relationships and influence structure of factors were analyzed by using the multiple regression analysis and graphical modeling. As a result, MMSE in males between 50 to 64 years of age was positively correlated with "sports", "TV · radio · newspaper · magazine" and "rest and relaxation" . However, no correlations were found in 65 years and older. MMSE in females between 50 to 64 years of age showed a positive correlation with "child rearing", however, negative correlations with "meals" and "sleep". For older females( age of 65 years and over), MMSE was positively correlated with "seeing family members more than once a month". Therefore, it is important for males to positively engage in sports and leisure activities from the middle age in order to raise the cognitive reserve power, and for females to have more opportunities for personal interactions in order to improve the psychological well-being and to increase physical activity. 続きを見る

概要: It has been reported that an association between gut microbiota and obesity, and changes in the composition of gut micro biota have been reported with aging. The aim of this study is clarify the relationship between obesity and gut microbiota as a function of age. Furthermore, the impact of lifestyle factors( alcoholic drink and smoking) on gut microbiota were discussed. Fecal samples from 1082 healthy Japanese adults aged 19–90 years who participated in the Iwaki Health Promotion Project in 2014 were analyzed by using 16S rDNA gene-targeted sequencing. The participants were stratified into six age groups: ≤39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70–79 and ≥80. The participants with a body mass index (BMI) of <25 kg/m2 were classified as non-obese, and those with a BMI of ≥25 kg/m2 were classified as obese. Changes in the composition of gut microbiota with age were different between the obese and non-obese groups.Bacterial diversity decreased with age at the phylum level, however, this diversity was not observed at the class level. The abundances of certain gut microbiota, such as Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes, were different between the obese and non-obese groups. There were no significant differences in alcoholic and smoking habits. Bacterial diversity was different with age between the obese and non-obese group. The composition of Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes changed with increasing age in the obese group. 続きを見る

概要: Background: Ptosis is caused mainly by age-related degeneration of the aponeurosis caused by lifestylerelateddiseases. S ome patients with ptosis complain of stiff shoulders and headaches. There have been few actualepidemiological investigations of aponeurotic ptosis and these symptoms. We aimed to find their prevalence andassociated characteristics of ptosis in Japanese general population.Methods: The target population consisted of 1004 volunteers who took part in the 2016 Iwaki Health PromotionProject. We administered a questionnaire, took blood samples, took physical measurements, and measured marginalreflex distance( MRD-1) in each participant. The relationship between survey items( age, gender, difficulty in raisingeyelids, headache, stiff shoulders, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and body mass index[ BMI]) and eyelid droopwas examined statistically.Results: The prevalence of ptosis in this study was 15.4%. Ptosis prevalence correlated with elderly people 65years or older (odds ratio. 3.07, 95% CI: 2.02–4.66), male sex (odds ratio. 0.29, 95% CI: 0.20–0.43), hypertension (oddsratio. 1.68, 95% CI: 1.11–2.54) and dyslipidemia( odds ratio. 1.51, 95% CI: 1.02–2.23).Conclusions: The present results suggested that hypertension, dyslipidemia and male sex were thought to be therisk factors of aponeurotic ptosis in Japanese general population. 続きを見る
